A powerful synthesis of
Psychotherapy and Bodywork

About Me
I began my journey as a massage therapist over 30 years ago. Combined with the practice of mindfulness centred meditation, this opened the door to a deeply personal journey of self enquiry. As I began to understand the relationship between the tension in my body, and how this related to events in my life, I began to see the correlation of the unprocessed and unresolved life issues in the people I was working with.
In 2014 I began attending workshops in Hakomi Mindfulness Centered Psychotherapy. In 2023 I graduated from the professional training, also incorporating Innate Somatic Intelligence Trauma Therapy Approach, level 1, in 2022. This beautiful work continues to hold me and support my growing edge, personally and professionally.

Within the Hakomi principal of non violence, this work uncovers what stands in the way of being our true authentic selves, and preventing us from living from the essence of who we are. It supports us to study the long held unprocessed experiences that sit outside our everyday awareness, creating limiting experiences in our lives.

We don't know 'all' of why we are the way we are! Our bodies hold information from many realms.
In the form of tension, sensation, thoughts, feelings, memories, and child states.
It's important to know where we sit in relation to these many realms.
This information in the body provides maps for us to align with our innate wisdom, and to activate our natural impulse towards healing.
Working from the universal principles of Hakomi, and a mindfulness centered somatic perspective, has given me a framework in which to integrate my experience and training. I now work as a Mindfulness Centered Psychotherapist, through talk therapy and bodywork.

This therapy is grounded in Neuroscience. It combines somatic accessing techniques with empathic attunement, creating a safe container for assisted self study.

Services
An approach to Mindfulness-Centred Somatic Psychotherapy

Your unique bodily intelligence knows things that neither myself or you as a client knows about the 'source' of your physical tension, confusion, unwanted attitudes, and behaviours.

Together we work with your internal observer. By tracking and exploring the subtle cues that show up in the body. Like facial expressions, changes in breathing, tensions, postures and subtle movements.
Mindfulness allows attention to be directed inwards to observe and study what is driving our habitual patterns.

My role is to assist you to access what's 'unconscious'. This is done by bringing on board your internal observer through mindfulness, and assisting your self study, to explore what was previously outside of your awareness.
This is explored through a variety of accessing techniques, which can include massage, as well as exercises set up as 'little explorations'. The objective is to uncover and provide missing life experiences.
Once recovered, these missed experiences lead to self empowerment and the capacity to make choices that align with living a rich and full life.
Psychotherapy & Bodywork
I offer 2 approaches to psychotherapy - one that utilises bodywork to access your internal experience, the other as a mindful somatic talk therapy session.
Sometimes these 2 approaches will be used together. This will be determined by your individual needs at the time.

The Hopi Tapuat

For the Hopi Indians the Tapuat represents mother and child. It is a symbol of the labyrinth of life - birth and rebirth.
Our life cycle begins with the umbilical cord and moves inward on a path towards our true selves. The Tapuat shows us that life is a maze and that we are here to follow our true path.
At a higher level the Tapuat is Earth, the Cosmic Mother - or the Universe.
